His father, Chief Precious Osaro Ngelale, was a Nigerian of Eleme origin, serving as a geologist, politician, and minister of state for water resources in the federal cabinet. Ajuri’s mother, Diane, a German-American, worked as a social welfare director for the Rivers State Government under Governor Melford Okilo.

Growing up in the creeks of Ogoniland in the Niger Delta, Ajuri witnessed firsthand the environmental degradation caused by oil exploration, fueling his early interest in politics and journalism. Inspired by his father’s activism and his mother’s humanitarian work, he developed a passion for addressing social injustices.


Ajuri Ngelale attended Government Secondary School in Port Harcourt for his secondary education before pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science and history at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, USA.


Upon returning to Nigeria in 2011, Ajuri participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and was deployed to AIT (Africa Independent Television), where he began his journalism career as a youth corps member. In 2016, he joined Channels Television, where he co-anchored the popular public policy discussion program “Sunrise Daily” and created “Africa’s Future Leaders,” a documentary series profiling young African leaders making a positive impact on disadvantaged populations.

In 2019, Ajuri resigned from Channels TV to become the lead media content producer for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Next Level Presidential Campaign, working for the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari. He also served as the senior special adviser on public affairs to President Buhari until 2023.

In October 2022, Ngelale was appointed as the co-principal spokesperson of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Organization, playing a pivotal role in crafting and communicating campaign messages and strategies that contributed to Tinubu-Shettima’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.
